A teacher's guide to getting your first students
How to set up a teacher profile that students trust, price your lessons, and turn first lessons into regulars.
Whether you're a professional educator or someone with a skill worth sharing, the first few students are the hardest. Here's how to make your profile work for you.
Write a headline that says who you help
Compare "Math tutor" with "Patient algebra and calculus tutor for high-school students". The second tells students instantly whether you're right for them.
Add a real photo and a short, honest bio
Students book people, not listings. A friendly, clear photo and a bio that explains how you teach — not just what you've done — goes a long way.
List specific subjects
Students search by subject. Add each one separately (e.g. "Spanish, Spanish conversation, DELE exam prep") so you show up in more searches.
Open enough hours
Students can only book times you've made available. Add a few windows across different days, including some evenings or weekends if you can.
Reply quickly and follow up
Answer messages the same day when possible. After a first lesson, send a short note in the Studio with what you covered and what you'll do next time. That's often what turns a trial into a regular student.
